If these past few days are any indication of what’s in store for us, we’re in for one hot summer. And before your skin roasts under the unforgiving sun as you desperately check CTrip for overseas beach vacations that you won’t be able to go on this year, there are options that’ll help make the best of your summer in the city.

Aqua Magic (欢乐水魔方水上乐园) water park officially reopens tomorrow on Jul 12 and it promises to be cool fun for the whole family. The family-friendly park includes rides suitable for people of all ages from 25-meter tall water slides for grownups to underwater-themed splash pools for the kids. Classics like wave pools and sandy beaches are a must, and while it’s a bit of a drive from the center of the city out in Fengtai District, Aqua Magic is an all-day family activity place that’ll keep the kids happy and leave them exhausted by the end of the day.

2020.6.5

Like with everything else that has reopened in the wake of COVID-19, Aqua Magic now limits the number of entrants per day and tickets must be purchased in advance through their mini program.

Aqua Magic is not to be confused with the more well known (and much closer)
Happy Magic Water Cube which is the popular indoor water park next to the Bird’s Nest. Aqua Magic is a fully outdoor waterpark so be sure to bring plenty of sunblock because you will get a nice tan!

Things you should know:

  • Due to the nature of the rides at the park, anyone over the age of 60, and all children under 1.5 meters must be accompanied by an adult under 60 at all times.

  • Swimwear and swimming caps are both mandatory, and while they are both available for purchase, the park recommends guests to bring their own (after all, you may not like the limited style choices they offer.)

  • The park does not accept cash or credit cards, so all payments within the park need to be made either via WeChat or rechargeable card that is available at the entrance with a deposit of RMB 270.

  • No outside food or drinks are permitted inside the park.

  • Sharp objects along with jewelry and glasses need to be removed before going on rides.

The park is open Monday – Friday from 10am – 6pm and Saturday and Sunday from 9.30am – 6pm.
